A special experience. I visited the island for a second time, the first being seven years ago, and over the years, I have noticed a significant deterioration and abandonment. There are areas where you can spot trash, most likely left by tourists. The island holds great historical value and should be better protected and maintained. With a little effort, it could become a wonderful, well-organized tourist destination with a unique character. Despite this, it is definitely worth a visit. A tourist train operates on the island, offering a 20-minute ride where you can see everything from the outside. However, it is also recommended to explore on foot as you can witness more by walking inside the buildings. It is important to be cautious though, as some areas may have unsafe ground conditions. Kamen na kamen opet samo kamen.

When visiting St. Christopher's Square (Trg Svetog Kristofora) near the marina, be sure to check out the ancient ruin located above it. To get there, simply head up the slight hill past the open square, on your way to Komrcar Park. You'll notice a man sitting outside the gates, who will collect an admission fee that can only be paid in Croatian currency. Euros are not accepted. Once inside, we were impressed by the curved design of the church, or what is left of it. Adjacent to the church is the Tower of St. Christopher, which is included in the entry fee and can be climbed by those interested. The original church is believed to have been built in the 5th century, with further renovations taking place in the 11th century. The stones of the ruins are remarkably bright, and there are enough remains to give you a sense of the curved design, as well as a few columns (or at least their bases) that are still intact. As you make your way to Komrcar Park, the path follows along the ruins, providing an interesting and scenic walk.

This is a splendid edifice, believed to have been constructed in the late 1500s, and stands out with its salmon-pink facade on the outskirts of Liberty Square. The square itself is a major attraction that draws visitors here. The views from this location are simply breathtaking. However, when it comes to entering the building, there is no information provided (even though it is a museum), so we can only appreciate its beauty from the outside. Those who have read reviews on TripAdvisor may already know that this museum supposedly houses the skull of the martyred St. Christopher (although the whereabouts of his skull seem to be constantly changing). Unfortunately, poor St. Christopher was beheaded around 250 A.D., and it took approximately three hundred years for his skull to be placed in a reliquary in Rab. Sometimes, faith is required to bridge the gap. Any pedestrian-friendly path around the Old Town of Rab will inevitably lead visitors to Liberty Square, where these impressive ancient structures still proudly stand.
