At right angles to Placa (Stradun), there are several small narrow streets that run towards the north, leading to the city wall. Among them, a long street named Prijeko intersects these streets, running parallel to Placa. This particular area of the city has maintained its original picturesque appearance. Prijeko is a narrow but straight street, with the western side bordered by the lateral wall of the Franciscan monastery, and the eastern side by the front of the church of St. Nicholas. St. Nicholas is a small church that was constructed in the 11th century, making it one of the oldest churches in Dubrovnik. The church was initially built in a simple style, but a late Renaissance facade was added in 1607. Inside, visitors can admire stone ornaments in an interlocking style, reminiscent of Celtic knotwork known as pleter. This architectural feature is typical of early Croatian churches. Additionally, there is a painting of the Madonna that dates back to the 13th century.

A visit to Dubrovnik is incomplete without stopping by this place. We easily obtained tickets at the harbor and boarded the boat without any hassle. The island is well-marked with signs, making it easy to explore. There are numerous small cafes and stalls where you can grab a sandwich or a bottle of water. We even found a water tap where we could quench our thirst. Additionally, public toilets were available, although there were long queues. Personally, I particularly enjoyed swimming in the 'dead sea' lake and then relaxing by the sea. The lake has ladders for entry and there are spots for jumping into the water as well. Showers are also provided free of charge. Families with children will appreciate the presence of a playground, and for those seeking a bit of adventure, there is a somewhat steep walk up to the fort. Overall, it was a fantastic day out that caters to everyone in the family.
