This bridge is a prominent feature when sailing in and out of Dubrovnik's Port of Gruz. It stretches over Rijeka Dubrovacka (River Dubrovnik) for a length of 518 meters (1,699 feet) and has a width of 14.2 meters (47 feet). The distance between the bridge and the water below is 49 meters (161 feet). This cable-stayed bridge connects the D8 State Road with the western approach to the city. The pylon that supports the cables stands tall at 141.5 meters (464 feet) and can be seen from a distance. It is named the Franjo Tudman Bridge, in honor of the first President of Croatia after the dissolution of Yugoslavia. He held this position from 1990 until his death in 1999. The original design for the bridge was created in 1989, but due to the Croatian War of Independence, construction was delayed. Finally, the bridge was opened on May 11, 2002. Although we did not drive over the bridge, we had the opportunity to sail by it, which, honestly, is the best way to appreciate its beauty.

The Benedictine Monastery in Dubrovnik is a historical landmark known for its stunning architecture and serene atmosphere, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's rich cultural and religious of Dubrovnik
Benedictine Monastery
User reviews
We visited the Benedictine Monastery while on a walking tour of the island of Locrum. Originally housing Benedictine monks, they were forcibly removed in 1789 by the French. Afterwards, the monastery became the holiday residence of Austrian archduke Maximilian, who also briefly served as the Emperor of Mexico. Fans of Game of Thrones will appreciate that many scenes were shot on this very location. Don't miss the room where you can sit on the Iron Throne for free and snap a photo. Additionally, there is a room filled with information about the early crusades, Richard the Lionheart, and the infamous curse of the island. Unfortunately, during the Croatian War of Independence, a portion of the monastery suffered significant damage, resulting in the loss of the historical Library and records due to fire. Nevertheless, there is a café available where you can take a break and enjoy refreshing adult beverages. For detailed information, we recommend checking with the tourist office. I drove up to Fort Imperial and found the road to be a single track with several passing points, which made it a bit nerve-wracking. However, the good news is that there is a decent amount of free parking available at the top, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. While there is an option to take the cable car, it can be quite pricey for a family. On a positive note, there is a restaurant at the peak and a gift shop as well. Overall, I would say it is definitely worth the visit for the stunning views.
