In the 5th century, there was a small Church of St Felix at this location. However, in the 13th century, the Franciscans arrived and constructed the Church and Monastery in honor of St Francis. Although not lavishly endowed, the most notable artwork in the church is the Gothic Crucifix painting created by Blaz Juraj of Trogir in the early 15th century. Additionally, the church is home to the tombs of Marko Marulic, the father of Croatian literature, and Ante Trumbic, a prominent Croatian politician.

There has been a church at this location since the 13th century, originally serving as a monastery. Similar to many monasteries, the church buildings are arranged around a cloister. Upon arrival, there is a small entrance fee and the staff will direct you into the church through the cloister. The cloister itself features a garden, with a well located in the center. The well is shaped like a large urn and is covered with metal grating. Additionally, there are various broken masonry pieces and statues on display in this area. Inside the church, the nave is an open space with chapels scattered throughout. One of the most remarkable chapels is a Baroque chapel dedicated to Mary. This particular chapel showcases a painting that depicts the life of Mary, ranging from the Annunciation to the Assumption. The painting is housed within a Baroque ciborium, which features pink columns adorned with Corinthian capitals and broken pediments. Male angels are placed on top of the ciborium. Most of the other chapels within the church appear to be dedicated to monks, St. Dominic, St. Francis, or a combination of these. If you have an appreciation for architecture, this is a delightful place to visit.

This chapel is the most significant one in St. Lawrence's Cathedral. It is called the Chapel of Ivan Trogirski, and it houses the tomb of the saint and former Bishop of Trogir. During his lifetime, miracles were attributed to him, and even after his death, many more miracles occurred. The chapel itself is a rectangular room designed in the Roman style. In the center of the room, there is an elaborate tomb of the saint, which is a fine example of Baroque polychromy. Along the walls, there are vertical niches, each containing a standing sculpture of Jesus, an apostle, or a saint, all looking towards the tomb. The ceiling features a Romanesque arch, decorated with coffers, each displaying a relief of a seraphim.
